Exciting times in the next few weeks/ months

I've just been standing in our other shop looking at the building bomb site it is at the moment, watching the electricians putting new lights in, running cables and muttering about having to get down to go get something, the plasterers merrily whistling while he's plastering the new kitchen.

The shop is an absolute hive of activity.

Then there’s me working out where I'll need to run cables for the new tills, the internet, phones, card payment machine etc, and then for the girls who'll be in there and what and how they'd like things setting up.

And then it struck me, when the refurbishment is complete, this shop will be phenomenal, and the amount of space for new shiny things, the big crafting table, the space for people to come and look, explore, experiment and enthuse will be quite simply amazing.

And when we're able to get the workshops and demonstrations set up, how exciting that will be to see the shop full of crafters, with the buzz and interest of something happening, and that it won’t be just another craft shop, it’ll be our bright shiny freshly refurbished craft shop, where people will be welcome to drop in for a chat, become friendly with the kettle and tea pot, have a look at what we've got (lots more by the way, we’re going shopping and we have a massive shopping list)

Right, enough enthusing about the refurbishment, I’ll go pop the kettle on.

New and exciting times for IconUK

Well, it's been a bit quiet on here this week hasn't it? Apologies for that, there is a reason.

We've been busy with web developers and starting to make progress with our new site, it's an exciting time for us here.

We have a wish list for things on the new site, many of which I imagine you’d like to see too, simple things such as being e-mailed when something comes back into stock, being able to put something on back order (i.e. if we're out of stock, you can still order it, and when we receive a delivery, yours is then automatically ring-fenced so we don't re-sell it), electronic gift vouchers.

It will look, clean, modern, be quicker and less issues when using the site on a tablet/ iPad or smart phone.

Now, because we like to think we're a community based team, we would like your input in the new site, and this is where you all get to have a say in the process.

Please let us know below what you'd like to see, what would make your customer journey better?

Please feel free to ask about what in the site already (there's a lot already) but, we want to make it better, and who better to ask than you, our customers, our critics and site users.

Craft in another form

This weekend I got quite crafty, not with cards, but with eggs, flour & sugar and made cupcakes. I like cooking, baking and taking pictures.
I know this has nothing to do with card craft, dies, stamping etc, however it's still creative and tasty at the same time.

So here's a few pics of said handy work.

I do particularly love this picture, I was especially lucky with this one, the light at the back, the I just put the lemons down, no placement. Lucky shot.

Zest lemons, get lemon in eye, rub furiously.
Flour and all other ingredients mixed etc.

Spoon into muffin cases. 

Pop in the oven for about 30 mins.

Knock up some butter cream with lemon juic, spring a bit of lemon zest on top.

Et voila, salut Mon amis.

Crafters your shop need you!

CRAFTERS THIS IS A CALL TO YOUR CRAFTING ARMS!!!

A small favour chums, we had a visitor in our office today, and they were thrilled to see an example of you lot can make with your crafty hands.

This got me thinking, why not make a gallery of cards that our Customers have made?

If possible could you take a picture of any card you've made, and either post it on here, or e-mail it to me at contact[at]iconuk.co.uk and I'll make a gallery of all your handiwork with your name attached of course for all to see.

I even made a poster in Photoshop just for the occasion too.

If you've not sure how best to do it, leave me a message on here, or drop me an e-mail and I'll go through it with you.

Now what would be even better would be a card with some kind of Victorian style and appeal to it, fits in with Lord Kitchener (chap above in the poster), though not essential :)
